Just Because I want to

As this is my blog, I can pretty much do what I want. I wanted to use one of my favorite pictures of my wife today. For those who don't know, her name is Sandy, only I call her Cher (pronounced Shaw). It was taken at the Peddler's Post old store in Whitefish. The store is now in Columbia Falls. If you're in the area, stop in and say hi to Kim.

I just finished fogging for mosquitos and I'm hoping it doesn't rain for awhile. It's funny to find out certain things are in supply. I tried to get a replacement filter for the pool pump. Not to be found around here. I finally found one on ebay.

I saw an ad today for another shooting school. There sure seems to be a lot of them. As I haven't been to one, I don't have any first hand knowledge about them. What I don't understand is how an instructor can be hired to teach cops and soldiers, when the instructor hasn't been either one. I use to subscribe to Gun Digest the magazine, but there were too many articles promoting the author's book or telling the readers that they should attend a shooting school (and it just so happened the author owned one). I'm not saying that the schools are bad, just that they aren't going to teach you everything. From what I have read, Gunsite Academy is one of the better ones. It was started many years ago by Jeff Cooper. My point is, they can't teach you to shoot some one. You must figure that one out on your own if you're going to carry a gun. If you don't have the mind set that you definitely can shoot some one if that time ever comes, then don't carry a gun. Carrying a gun isn't for everyone. And, there definitely are people who have guns, that shouldn't have them. I'll leave it at that.

As I have said before, if you think you might want some more ammo, get it now. Some of it is getting scarce. Stored correctly (cool and dry), ammo will last for many years. Now I'll do a blatant add for a device that really does improve the .22 rimfire round. You take the block, seat three rounds in it and then you cut off the lead noses that are sticking out. This makes the round nose bullet have a flat nose. The flat nose works wonders on the target. Sounds complicated, but go to Reeder Custom Guns and take a look. Yes, Gary is a friend, but I don't get anything out of the sale. I'll say right here, that if I recommend something, it's because I think it's worth getting. There are many gadgets out there that are just that, gadgets, and not worth the money.

In Arkansas, a six year old girl was sent home from a day care because of the shirt she was wearing. First of all, the day care is a private business and should be able to refuse anyone it wants. Second of all, the girls parents used her as a pawn for the BLM movement (for me, BLM still stands for Bureau of Land Management), having her wear a shirt that said "All lives will matter, when black lives matter". I don't think a six year old really comprehends what is going on with that statement. The parents should be ashamed of putting her in that position. I'm getting tired of people saying that all lives matter is racist. I could say a lot worse things then that.

Enough bad news for today. I hope everyone has a great 4th. This will be the first 4th when Sand and/or I haven't been around family for quite some time. Maybe things will be back to normal next year. Stay extra safe and take care.
