A Little Catch Up Today

Okay, so we'll catchup on a couple of things I said I would cover later.

I mentioned a get home bag and here are some of the items that friends have in theirs and in ours. I wouldn't get too wound up on trying to keep everything listed here. These are just some suggestions.

1. A couple of guns with extra mags and a box of ammo. Using the same caliber will keep you from having to have different types of ammo. Using the same guns will help keeping mags straight.

2. Flashlight. There are many good flashlights out there. I would have some extra batteries.

3. A couple of knives. One each straight and a folder is in our bag. Also a multi-tool. Again there are several good brands out there. Spend a little more and go with good ones.

4. Some people keep a first aid kit with their bag with basic stuff. Some keep more detailed ones. You can make the decision on what is right for you.

5. A stash of money has been suggested.

6. I don't think about it being too long to get home, but some people do. They put in some meds that they are on.

7. I think an extra pair of prescription glasses would be good for those who wear them. Maybe a pair of shooting glasses.

8. Again some people think about it being a long time to get home and have some food and water.

9. Tools have also been suggested, as have jumper cables and tow straps. A saw and axe have also been mentioned.

We don't carry all of the above mentioned equipment, so you decide. Some people must not have any room left in their vehicle by what they say they carry. I'm sure I have forgotten something and if I think it is important, I'll have it in another post.

I also mentioned a house plan incase you have unexpected visitors. That is a plan to have everyone go to a specific place/room that you think you can defend. Think about it and we'll discuss it some more tomorrow.
